Summary of AWSC America's World Service/Jobs Corps

Terror stems from ignorance, brainwashing, and lack of understanding.  It roots itself in peoples' hearts and minds.  An American World Service Corps of one million can-do Americans can involve the best of America's  initiative and power in more effectively winning the Terror War, in which we have become increasingly mired..

Brief Summary of AWSC

I have only one yardstick by which I test every major problem - and that yardstick is: Is it good for America?

WAR is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.  Maverick Marine: General Smedley D. Butler

House Resolution 1807 of 1989 calling for the formation of an American Soviet Peace Corps. Proposed by Dwayne Hunn to the Marin Community Foundation for model funding.  Adapted by Congresswoman Boxer as HR 1807.  The AWSC is a needed expansion of what was proposed and needed in 1989.

The AWSC Congressional Proposal urges and pushes by example other nations to implement their own national service corps.

Let get nations to compete on the economic, social, and educational fields of service.. rather than on the military.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man."

“We have too many men of science too few men of God.  We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount…  The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience.  Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants.  We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living.”

President  Eisenhower

If the Pentagon’s map is more urgent, the Peace Corp’s is, perhaps, in the long run the most important... What happens in India , Africa, and South America -- whether the nations where the Peace Corps works succeed or not -- may well determine the balance of peace.
